GOAL

At the National level, Ministry of Health data in Cameroonian adults based on cross sectional surveys show ten fold increase in prevalence. We are hoping to streamline those numbers through our AVALON NGO FOUNDATION contributions to the less privileged majority in our society who are challenged by low health seeking behavior and limited management strategies due to high maintenance costs, backed by extreme financial limitation

INTRODUCTION

Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes are both aspects of metabolic syndrome; a condition that includes obesity and cardiovascular disease. Both may have some underlying causes in common and they share certain risk factors, which equally contribute to worsening of each others symptoms. Proper management often improves patient outcomes in situations where lifestyle changes in nutrition are attained and sustained.

VISION AND MISSION

Vision: Supporting low income countries (starting with Cameroon) to create a diabetes and hypertension free life through outreach activities such as screening, counselling, sensitization and organizing seminars to dissipate information.

Mission: To lead the fight against diabetes and hypertension by:
preventing the onset and consequences of diabetes and hypertension.
helping those affected by diabetes and hypertension to lead healthy lives.

CORE OBJECTIVES

Provide blood pressure and blood glucose machines to communities, healthcare centers and individuals thus facilitate primary screening (identifying a risk before the disease) and secondary screening (detecting existing asymptomatic disease)

Establish counselling programs to:

  • Address psychological and emotional recovery through multidisciplinary support from a vast array of healthcare professionals like nutritionist, pharmacist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, and fitness instructors.
  • Promote a shared decision making approach to create individualized care plans.
  • Follow up and regular checks to ensure treatment is effective and goals are being met.

Sensitizing the public about the strong, often invisible link between High Blood Sugar (Diabetes) and High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

With organized, up-to-date records, you can make decisions faster and manage your finances without worry.

Partner with healthcare establishments, individuals and NGOs to prioritize free screening, counselling and sensitization.
